At the corner of Main and Auburn Streets, Grass Valley will celebrate its 4th annual St. Pirans Day Celebration with a flag raising ceremony of the Cornish flag followed by the Pasty Olympics, a series of games involving this staple of the Cornish diet. This spot in downtown Grass Valley had a Cornish flavor long before pasties flew as shot puts. The corner was home for about 80 years to the Wisconsin Hotel, a local Cornish establishment dating back to the Gold Rush days. Grass Valley is host to their Sister City, Bodmin, Cornwall, England for this event that pays tribute to St. Piran, patron saint of Cornwall and of hardrock miners.

Farm Fresh Produce, Health Wellness, Art & Craft is featured at this seasonal weekly market for local farmers and selected vendors engaged in the production and marketing of fresh agricultural products, as well as art, handicrafts and food. The Mill Street Farmers Market is also a Health and wellness Fair. This project has as its primary intent, promotion that supports the continued revitalization of downtown Grass Valley by enhancing public access to quality produce and foodstuffs, local products, arts crafts, and culture. Our farmers represent local and regional farms and offer the freshest of produce, flowers and plants. Sidewalk cafes feature fine dining under stars in the cool of the evening. An international food court offers tastes from around the world and refreshments include everything from choros to handmade ice cream. Take a few minutes for a massage or a heath consultation. Community outreach and public service groups will also offer information. Takes place on Mill Street, between Neal and Main Street.

Grass Valley, California "Safe Trick or Treat"

Parents and child care providers are invited to bring their pre-school age children for a safe trick or treat tour of historic downtown Grass Valley, California. Merchants throughout the downtown dress in costume and hand out candy to the children, while providing a safe environment. Witching hours are from 10am to 1pm on Halloween. Mill Street downtown is closed to motorized traffic. Window displays and costume contests are a fun part of this annual event.

Recapture the spirit of Christmas past amid the charming surroundings of historic downtown Grass Valley, California during the annual Cornish Christmas Celebration. Mill and W. Main Streets are closed to motorized traffic and filled with the sights and sounds of an old fashioned Christmas; carolers, jugglers, musicians, the Grass Valley Cornish Carol Choir, Tommyknocker Cloggers and, of course, Santa Claus. Handmade arts and craft from artists throughout California are displayed on the streets. Delicious food and drink can be purchased from a number of restaurants and specialty food.
